as of lately

A lot of new and fun things are going on for Miss Chappy-lina.
She started Mother's Morning (day?) Out on Monday. I'm not sure if she really enjoys it yet. It is from 9:30 to 1:15. She seems to be really tired without her morning nap. Plus we are going through some major teething around here. And if you think the molars are bad... just wait for the canines. I've consulted with a few toddla moms and they all seem to agree... quite enthusiastically, actually.
Conclusion: Canines are rough.
Until this most recent teething episode, Chappell slept until at least 7:20-7:40 (with few exceptions) since she was 4 months old. For the last (almost) two weeks, she's woken up around 5:45-6 am.
NOT COOL.
I've always known that I require some serious sleep... but WOW... the past two weeks have thrown me for a loop. I feel like I have a newborn.
Chappell is actually sick right now with a cold, and surprisingly slept until 7:10 today.
My mother assures me that as soon as she cuts those bastard teeth (sorry, it's driving me to curse) she will go back to her normal sleeping patterns.
And this promise is keeping.me.alive... along with Starbucks coffee.

Chappy seems to be talking a lot more.
And she is really, really good at puzzles! I bought her two puzzles about a month ago, and when she got the hang of it, I started buying more. Now, she can put together a puzzle on her first try! These puzzles are all labeled 2 years + and 3 years +.
I call her the Puzzlemaster!

Here is another thing Chappell enjoys: Sorting.
Reed's mom taught preschool for years; she has her masters... and told me that children don't start doing this until around 3.
Chappell does it all of the time.
She'll dive into a basket, or drawer full of STUFF - whatever... and group similar objects together.
This picture is not the best example, but we took it this morning on Reed's phone. In Pensacola, she went through one of my mom's big drawers and lined up beauty supplies 15 feet across the bathroom. If you look at this picture, you get the idea: brushes with brushes, bottles with bottles, flat bottles with flat bottles... check it out. She's usually much more organized in her "sorting," but hey - it was early.
*The more I look at it, this really isn't a great example. Not her best work, ladies!

My little baby Einstein.

We have a super busy few days coming up.
This weekend we have two couples staying with us - some of my favorite pledge sistas and their respective men.
Saturday one of our other pledge sisters is getting married here in the Gump.
Sunday, Reed, Chappy and I head to Atlanta to stay with Smith and celebrate my daddy's birthday.
Monday night we are going to see the Braves play the Washington Nationals. Anyone who knows my family knows that we are fans of all DC teams. So... that should be a lot of fun.
Tuesday morning we head back to Montgomery.
Wednesday I have to go out of town for a meeting in the AM and then I'm hosting a BY SMITH sample sale at my house in the evening.
WOW.
Wish me luck. I'm worn out already.

Happy Fathers Day, Ree Ree!
You are the best dad I know. We are so lucky to have you... you are an exception to the rule.

so proud

This is me and my Smitty:

mesmitty

Last night I was a nervous wreck. The minutes seemed to crawl by.
After all, 9:30's late for a gal like me. But of course, we had to stay up to watch Smith's big debut on MTV's The City!

I can't explain how surreal and exciting and AWESOME it was to see my baby sister on national television - doing what she does best - what she loves.

It's strange, but I get far more nervous for my sisters... than myself?
It was hard for me to come to grips with the fact that everyone we know would be watching... and if Smith messed up, I wouldn't be able to turn off their TVs.
Weird? Yes.
I'm the big sis... it's just what I do.

Thankfully, she didn't mess up. She was awesome.
{And ML, I felt the same way when you were Miss Valedictorian.}

I'm so proud of you, Smith.

In the first segment, you can see my sister wandering around at the model casting, doing various things in the background...
but then... in the last segment...

By Smith was a force!

If you haven't seen the episode, you can watch it here.
And if we're friends, and you haven't seen it... watch it before I call you out.

A fun lil' project

Allison and I just got back from an impromptu trip to Atlanta.

We hit up the Apparel Mart (where we bought our children new wardrobes) and visited with sister Smitty (who is currently showing) -- and -- DUN dun DUN dun!!! IKEA.
I'd never been.
Who does Market and IKEA in one day? Crazy people.
Holy mess I am wiped out... but I wanted to share this little makeover!
Cushions from IKEA plus a can O' spray paint. Oh and I bought the chair for 20 bucks at Eastbrook Flea Market.

I like it.

Lake Pics and 18 month Update

At the lake we discovered that Chappell loves to eat watermelon - all by herself!
She had 4 pieces in a row... how did I just discover this? Cutting it up is for the birds.
What a fun summer treat... watching her made me feel like a kid again.

And even had a few tantrums... because that's what toddlers do!

To sum it up: Chappell loved the lake! She hung out in the water (in a float) for over an hour... she loved it.
I think Reed and I have decided that we will be buying a lake house... anyone in?
Ha. Ha. Ha.

-----

Today Chappell is 18 months old!
And yes, we will be celebrating later on with cupcakes.
Half birthdays (actually, just Chappell's half birthdays) are big around here.

How did this happen? My baby is a year and a half old... this is nUtS!
When you throw in pregnancy... this little bug's been in my life for 28 months.

So what's Chappy doing, you ask? I know you want to hear.
I don't really know where to start...
  • Chappy has a mouth full of teeth. I think (think) she has 12? She is cutting her bicuspids or canines (is that what they are even called?) right now. Sorry for the poor dental analysis. I will have my dentist daddy check her out tomorrow when we are in Pensacola.
  • Chappy is walking/running/climbing/dancing all over the place. She loves to dance, and I must say the kid's got rhythm. She has a new move, similar to the running man. Nice. Speaking of climbing... I'm ordering a crib tent today. Thank the Lord for video monitors... I've been doing some spying and it looks like C's trying to figure a way out of her crib. I don't think she's strong enough yet... but this morning she was certainly trying...
  • Chappell's vocabulary is getting bigger. She can repeat words rather easily, but that doesn't necessarily mean she will use it on her own. Word of the week: HAPPY. Over the past few days one of her favorite things to say is, "Happy Baby, Happy Baby, Ha-pyyy Baby!" Chappell follows almost every action with, "Ideeed," which means, "I did." It's kind of her way of patting herself on the back. If she finds a cool leaf or bug on the floor, she brings it to mommy and says, "I deed!" Very cute. The other night, when Riley gave her a toy, I told her to say 'thank you'... and she did, perfectly!
  • Chappell has been playing so well with kids! I am quite pleased with this because she was kind of a bully in her earlier days. Kids her age don't understand how to share, but once in a blue moon she'll bring a friend a toy... this weekend she kept putting Griffin's paci in his mouth... so we're making progress!
  • Chappell has been taking two naps... until today (cross yo fingas)! We are trying to drop C's morning nap... again. Wish us luck in this arena. I'm determined this time. We tried a few weeks ago, but then C got sick and needed sleep. However, the nap has to go because my "great sleeper" has been waking up at 6:30 for about a week. Um... I want 7:40 back. I'm not cool with anything before 7.
  • Chappell will eat anything. She loves veggies. Pickles are a fave. We still haven't tried peanuts... I guess we should? I don't like peanuts and peanut butter so we never have either one on hand...
That's all I can think of for now.
I'm schleepy from getting up so early.
I know I'm leaving a lot out... be glad, blog world.
-----
We're off to Pcola tomorrow... because... I am finally done with invisilign... whoop whoop.

Oh... check my sista out on The City next Tuesday night on MTV!

Possibly my longest break ever?

Sorry blog o' mine.
I haven't had much free time lately!
Even when we're just chillin' at home, Chappell is so active and curious and into everything... I can't blog.
Seriously, she would set the house on fire. And since I don't own it, I probably shouldn't let that happen.

SO,
I promise to blog tomorrow... but until then...
How funny is this??
