Last Day at the Office...

Reed said these smelly work shoes weren't allowed to come home with me today. Goodbye, shoes... and Goodbye, work!

24 Weeks, 3 Days

After today, I only have two more days of work! I'm so excited. I can't wait to have some time off to get ready for the Chapster.
Last night my mom unexpectedly spent the night, along w/ sister Smithers. The Big Al was on her way back to Pensacola from DC after moving ML into her new dorm. However, plans changed when her flight was cancelled in Atlanta! So, she rented a car and drove on over to Bham. Smith was already in town for a doctor's appointment, and there you have it- the makings of a good ole' Sinrod Slumber Partay.
I do have to admit, I was rather annoyed because Chappell wasn't being very cooperative. Ever since I first spotted her last Friday morning, she's been quite the kick-boxer. It's been so much fun to watch... but, I guess she decided to be shy last night because she barely moved at all for my mom and sister. She's been extremely active all morning. I'm watching my dress move now as I'm typing- literally. Go figure.

Here's another headless photo of the big belly. I'll have Reed take them from now on. BTW, he feels like you all must think I'm a single mom from reading the blog. Hardly! Reedo, I will mention you more from now on. Ha--

A First!

I could see Chappel kicking through my stomach today! It was really cool/weird/surreal. I was straightening my hair (ahhh, my favorite thing) when I started to feel some strong kicks. I looked down, and could see my tummy moving. It was honestly one of the strangest things I've ever seen. So cool!

Fabric!

So we went ahead and picked a fabric today. I met Reed at King Cotton around lunch time and we decided to just go ahead and take the plunge. It isn't the look I originally planned, but I think I will like it when I see it all together. The toile fabric is going to be the crib bumper and cushion for the rocker. I've decided to use my great grandmother's wicker rocking chair, instead of the big comfy glider. The rocker is free... and mom said I could paint it any color I want. So I might do something fun with it. The bed skirt is the polka dot fabric. I hope it all works... I'm keeping the walls sage green, so it's going to be pink and green basically. Sounds familiar. Basically my room until I got married. Other than that it's going to be pretty simple. Oh man- it's going to be so girly.

Here is a belly pic I just took in the bathroom at work. Once again, it is a self-portrait from my cell phone. Please forgive! I'm the headless pregnant woman!
And yes, I realize that my boobs are almost as big. I'm a freak.

24 Week Appointment!

Yesterday we had our 24 week appointment. Even though I haven't officially hit the 24 week mark, it is still considered the 24th week of pregnancy. All of the weird counting can get confusing. It was the first appointment of the rotations and we met one of the group's other partners, Dr. Favor. She was really nice, and everything looked great! One interesting tid-bit... The bottom-top measurement of your uterus corresponds with how many weeks preggo you are. Example: yesterday at 24 weeks, my uterus was 24 inches top to bottom. Maybe she meant centimeters. Inches sounds way too big. Very interesting...
Besides the usual (peeing in a cup, getting weighed, taking blood pressure) nothing too interesting happened. The doctor said her heartbeat was very characteristic for a baby girl. Strong and a little bit faster than boys. We scheduled our big 3-D ultrasound! September 16th. So pumped about that! That same day I have to take the dreaded glucose test. Oh well, you take the good w/ the bad.
This weekend we are going to Ozark. I will be sure to take some pics to post!

23 Weeks, 1 Day

Happy Monday!
We ended up spending the weekend in Pensacola. It was a last minute trip, but I'm really glad that we went. We didn't tell Dad that we were coming. ML snuck us through the back gate and we were waiting for him at the dinner table when he walked outside. He was shocked! See pic... It was so cute to see how excited the Doc was for us to be home.

Margaret Leigh's Italian friends Anita and Carlo (again, see pic) were in town visiting, too. It was really cool getting to know them. They made us an authentic Italian dinner on Saturday... delish!
Saturday Reed and I went to a few fabric stores looking for a pattern for Chappel's room. We didn't really see anything that we were too crazy about, so we are going to keep looking. At one point, Reed even said, "this is a lot of fun!" I have to admit, I was a little surprised, but thought it was pretty cute.

22 Weeks, 3 Days

Just wanted to comment on my incredible appetite/cravings. I finished my lunch about 15 minutes ago, and all of a sudden had a desperate craving for chocolate. I literally started to get the shakes on the elevator ride down to the store in my building. I just finished a bag of dark chocolate M&Ms and I'm working on my second now!! Insane.

The evidence.

Update: Smither's Maternity Fashions

Russell graciously volunteered to model for Smith's portfolio. As you can see, Amelia is getting so big! Thanks, Russ!

Looks a little tight for Russell's expanding bosoms. Smith did not anticipate such significant growth!

22 Weeks, 1 Day

The party was a success! The weather in Birmingham was awesome- it couldn't have gone better. This being my first party, I definitely learned a few things.

Here are a few pics ...

The Sunflower arrangement was my first attempt to conquer the world of floral design. I think they turned out well. A little off-center, but who cares. Thanks for the bowl, mom!

21 Weeks, 3 Days

Hello. This weekend was a lot of fun, but now I am feeling a little overwhelmed. We are having an engagement party at our house this weekend and things like this tend to stress me out. Everything that I can do beforehand is done- although I'm a little bit nervous about the weather! It's supposed to storm on Friday night... let's just hope it doesn't carry over to Saturday. The party will be taking place in our backyard so rain is not an option.

I still haven't done anything for the nursery. I can't seem to find anything that I really like... that isn't ridiculously expensive. So, I am going to pick out fabrics sometime in the next couple of weeks and Emily (mother-in-law) is going to make the crib bedding for me! I wish I could sew. Maybe I will learn in the near future... since I only have 17 more days left at the office! Who's counting? I can't wait. I am starting to look ridiculous at work. All of my work clothes are way too tight and I refuse to buy more. So most days, I'm a little on the casual side. Oh well.

BTW, baby has started stomping on my bladder. It's quite pleasant.

21 Weeks, 2 Days

Well here is the pic I'm sure you've all been waiting for. It's not great- I took this with my cell phone in the bathroom at the lake this weekend. I did get in the water-- in just my bathing suit. Success! Just made sure my towel was nearby and ready for getting out...

Check out my big tummy!

Maternity Bathing Suits... 20 Weeks, 5 days

Everyone knows how much I love bathing suits. Especially now that I weigh 15 pounds more than usual. Actually-- 15 is a stretch. It's probably more like 20 at this point. Anyways, we are going to Lake Martin this weekend with some of Reed's law school friends and he basically forced me to buy a maternity bathing suit last night. Knowing that I will probably wear this thing once... Target was the way to go. Check it out. Hysterical.
If I'm brave enough, I will take some pics and post on Monday.
Pregnancy wise, things are going great. She kicks all the time now and they get a little stronger every day. I'm finally starting to get recognized... which is nice, because at least people know now that I have a reason for being so fat! Last night at dinner, our waitress at Applebees made a comment. Yes, we were "eating good in the neighborhood." Reed had an odd craving for the Steak & Riblets. Even after seeing it, I'm not quite sure what a "riblet" is. Gross.
