Dining Room = Complete!
Finally finished the dining room. They put up the new chandelier yesterday!
We've gotten a lot done w/ the nursery. I will put up pics later... the electrician has to come back this afternoon to finish the chandelier- so I'll just wait. We don't have the bedding yet, either, but you'll get an idea from what we've done so far! Exciting :)

28 Weeks, 2 Days
Well, Big Al is here- she got here this weekend and is running me around like a chicken w/ its head cut off. In fact I'll probably get in trouble for doing this now... and most definitely when she reads this later.
Just to do a quick update, yesterday I had to go in for the three hour glucose tolerance test-- and I passed! Three blood tests later...
Also, we found out yesterday that Reed PASSED THE FLORIDA BAR!! Woooohoooo!! Yesterday was an all around great day. We went to one of our favorite restaurants, GianMarco (sp?), last night to celebrate. So proud of you, Reed!
I will take pics as the nursery progresses. Right now I'm super stressed because my house so cluttered. Getting all the guest room furniture out, and baby furniture in has been quite a project. We're currently waiting on the electrician to come install the baby's chandelier and the new chandelier for the dining room. Damn Mr. Electric... they were supposed to be here hours ago.
I'm out!

Lil' Door Sign
Here's a little sign I made for Chappell's room. The lettering still needs some work, but you get the general idea! The picture's a little dark- you can't really see the green vines on the top.
Just to update, I failed my first glucose test. Now I have to take the longer test (3 hours, 4 pricks) on Monday morning. I have a friend who failed the first test, then passed the second. Let's hope that is the case with me! Since I hate needles so much, my mom is coming to Birmingham to go with me. Poor Reed feels bad, but has to be in Montgomery that day for a hearing. She's staying until Friday morning, so I think we're going to jump-start the nursery!

27 Weeks, 4 Days
Here are some pics Big Al sent to me this morning. One of her great friends, Teri Levin, gave us this beautiful crib and bedding. She also gave us tons of new baby clothes, a dresser (coming to bham) and many other baby goodies! This will be Chappell's bed at her grandparents house. It is sooo crazy to see a CRIB in my childhood bedroom!!

27 Weeks, 2 Days
Just got back from the doctor. Miss Chappell wasn't cooperating- she kept covering her face with hands and feet! When her hands and feet weren't in the way, she was blocked by the umbilical cord. We rescheduled for October 2nd. Hopefully we'll get better pictures then!
Her heart rate was 146 and she weights 2 pounds, 6 ounces. Today, her position was breech. Dr. Brown said it doesn't really matter much at this point. For those of you who don't know, breech babies have to be delivered via C-Section. I was a breech C-Section baby- I am hoping for a natural delivery, BTW.

Here are a few of the pictures from today's appointment. They are distorted from scanning them in:
Oh... and the glucose test stunk. I find out today or tomorrow if I passed or failed. Cross your fingers please!

27 Weeks, 1 Day (almost done)
YO.
We got back to Birmingham around 2:00 PM yesterday (Sunday). We had a really good time- sadly, I got a bad cold on Friday night. Sore throat + congestion = no fun. Today, I'm still sick and spent my day on the couch. I'm so thankful that I didn't have to go to work. Tomorrow I have a regular OB appointment so we'll see what they have to say about my cold. Possibly a Z-Pack? I hear from another pregnant friend that Z-Packs are acceptable. I now know that being sick while pregnant is miserable. There isn't much you can do... just suck it up and deal w/ it. I am, however, really excited about tomorrow's appointment. It's a biggie because we have both the dreaded glucose test and big 3-D ultrasound! We can't wait to see Chappell again. Reed picked up a DVD on the way home from work so hopefully I'll be able to upload some pics and post them after the appointment. Check back here around lunchtime... hopefully I'll have them up by then. I'll also post the (two) pictures I took on the trip-- I know, I'm pathetic. Doc would NOT be proud!

Off to Sea Island!
Well, starting tomorrow it will be radio silence for the blog until at least Sunday night. Reed's parents are taking all of us to Sea Island, GA for a long weekend vacay. I've never been there before so I'm really excited. I've heard a lot about The Cloister and it sounds pretty snazzy! This will probably be my last trip out of the Ham before the baby. Besides Pensacola, anyways...
I will force myself to take my camera out of my purse to take pictures. I'm so bad about that... hopefully I will be better by the time the Chappster makes her big debut.

26 Weeks
What a busy weekend! It started out w/ Mary Carolyn coming in town to try on her wedding dress at the Carriage House Friday afternoon. Smithers and I got to go with her- the dress was absolutely gorgeous! BTW, MC is so tiny-- I felt like a giant whale next to her.
Friday night was Russell's co-ed baby shower at Marlee's house. It was a lot of fun and she got some good loot. I would post pics, but of course I forgot to take any... I will try to poach some from others and post later.
Saturday followed with two more parties: a one-year-old birthday party at 11AM and Reed's annual Hammer Boil (we got there at 5:30PM). Also a lot of fun-- but left me feeling a little exhausted today. I stuck it out until 11PM- and then coaxed Reed home w/ a 4th meal from Taco Bell. It actually didn't even take much "coaxing." Once fast food was mentioned, he seemed more than ready to go.
Ferrill came over for lunch today (on her way back to Atlanta from a wedding) which was rather exciting! I got to see two of my favorite P-colians this weekend which was of course really great. Sorry this blog is both boring and a grammatical nightmare. It's 6:30 and we've only left the house once today to get some gator-aide. I feel hung over but of course I'm not. More later!

CHAPPELL
For any of you who are concerned... the spelling of our baby's name has been changed. It will now be spelled: Chappell. My mom did some family research today and it appears as though my great-grandmother was spelling it incorrectly. Guess that runs in the family. So, from now on, we'll be spelling her name Chappell. We shall see if I can update the blog. Might be tough.
Hmmm...
Maybe I should do this instead of the birds below... to pull from the toile? Comments welcome on this one! I could do a series of animals from the toile... It might look more synchronized. Here is an example of a "toile lamb" I found on the net.

First Day of Freedom (25 Weeks, 2 Days)
Wow! I had such a great day. I'm not trying to brag to those of you who spend your days at the office, but today was so nice! I feel like I got a lot accomplished around here. This morning I picked up the remaining fabric for Chappell's room, got my oil changed and tackled some much needed cleaning and laundry. Later on, Russell and I went to the local art shop and got some supplies to paint pictures for our nurseries. I am so excited-- I grew up painting (in what I like to consider a rather artistic fam) but haven't had the chance lately to dabble in any new projects. I want to paint something to put over the changing table. I haven't decided what to do quite yet but I will include a couple of paintings I found online that I'm taking into consideration... kind of funny considering I hate birds so much! We shall see.
As far as pregnancy goes, things have been progressing quite normally. I hate to jinx myself, but it's been rather uneventful thus far. She kicks and moves around a ton-- and Reed still screams/gasps everytime he feels it. It cracks me up.
